Assure |
The collective term for the processes and systems used for Chorus' faults logging and resolution processes/channel. |

Analog Terminal Adapter |
A device that allows a normal PSTN line to connect to the Internet in order to make or place telephone calls. |
Authentication |
In this context, the API portal's method for authentication of a user, by Client ID and Client Secret. |

Client ID |
The identifier assigned by the Anypoint portal to a client-side individual or organisation, visible to the client and to Chorus (and portal admin). Used to identify the owner of an API request |

Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer |
A device that connects many digital subscriber lines to a network by multiplexing the DSL traffic onto one or more network trunk lines. |

Electronic interface that connects the Access Network to Inside Plant equipment. |

Offset |

Optical Line Terminal |

ONT |
Optical Network Termination |
General term for a specialised piece of network equipment that terminates a single dark fibre and is located at the End User premises. |
ONT Status |
A value indicating the status of a target ONT. In the context of this API: a test to establish the status of a target ONT. |

A measure of optical power attenuation levels across an optical cable. |

PON |
Passive Optical Network |
A line consisting of optical fibres spliced end-to-end possibly via a splitter. |
POST |
An API method - create a new resource. |

POTS |
Plain Old Telephone Service |
An industry term used to describe traditional telephone service such as Telephone, modem or Facsimile. Plain old telephone service is the voice-grade telephone service that remains the basic form of residential and small business service connection to the telephone network. |
PPE |
Pre-Production Environment |
Chorus' production-like test environment, mainly used for performance testing. |
Product ID |
Used to identify the target product/service to be tested when reading product info or initiating tests. |

Representational State Transfer |
A design pattern for web services that treats objects on the system side as resources that can be created, removed or otherwise manipulated. A RESTful service is required to be stateless. It is an architectural style, not a specification. |

Next generation gateway - an item in the premise used to centralise communications. |
RGW Bandwidth |
A measure of the bandwidth usage of an RGW. |

Retail Service Provider |
A business/organisation that has applied to become an RSP (reseller of products). |
Sandbox |
A version of this API that returns stubbed responses, used for application development. |

SERCO |
Service Company |
Maintenance, Provisioning and Access/Engineering Services Build Contractor. |
SIT |
Systems Integration Test |
In this context, Chorus' own internal test environment. |
SLID |
Service Line Identifier |
A unique identifier for a given possible or real service delivered from a P-OLT. Currently there is a SLID naming standard that relates the SLID to the exchange or cabinet, P-OLT sequence number at the site, the slot number in the chassis, and the port number on the card in the slot. |
Status over time |
A set of values indicating the status of a target ONT over a period of time. In the context of this API: a test to establish the status of a target ONT over a period of time. |

Test ID |
When an asynchrous request to intitiate a test is sent, a reference test ID is returned, which is later used to retrieve the test. |

TLC |
Terralink Location Code |
The location code from a standardised address database, replacing the need to enter an address. |
UNI |
User Network Interface |
The interface specification facing the End User site. |
UNI Port |
A single Ethernet port on an ONT. |
